No Fog Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does the No Fog Resource Pack actually change?
It removes the atmospheric fog that normally hides distant terrain in the Overworld, Nether, and End. No textures, blocks, or items are altered, so it only affects how far you can see.
How do I turn the pack on after downloading it?
Open Options, then Resource Packs, move No Fog from the Available list to the Selected list, and confirm. If you use a mod loader, make sure the pack sits above any other pack that also touches fog or sky rendering.
Do I need OptiFine or a specific mod loader for this to work?
No, it works as a plain resource pack on vanilla, though many players pair it with performance mods for better results. If you're on a modded client, just enable it like any other resource pack.
Why can I still see fog after enabling the pack?
Another resource pack is likely overriding it, or a shader is drawing its own fog. Move No Fog to the top of your selected packs and disable or reconfigure shader fog settings.
Does No Fog work with shaders?
It can, but most shader packs render their own fog independently of resource packs. You'll usually need to turn fog off inside the shader's settings menu rather than relying on the pack alone.
Will this pack hurt my FPS?
Removing fog generally doesn't cost performance and can even help slightly, since less fog means fewer blended layers. The bigger factor is how much extra terrain your game now has to render at distance.
Can I use No Fog on a server or in multiplayer?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use it on any server without the owner installing anything. Other players won't see the effect unless they also enable the pack.
Does it remove fog in the Nether and End too?
Yes, the pack targets all three dimensions, so the Nether's thick haze and the End's void fog are cleared as well. This makes spotting fortresses, bastions, and End cities much easier.
Will No Fog let me see farther than my render distance?
No, it only removes the fog layer that obscures terrain within your render distance. To see genuinely farther, you still need to raise your render distance in video settings.
Can I combine No Fog with other resource packs like texture or shader packs?
Yes, it stacks with texture packs and most other packs as long as they don't also modify fog. Load No Fog above conflicting packs so its fog removal takes priority.
