How to Combine Normally Incompatible Enchantments (Like Sharpness + Smite)

Why vanilla blocks this

Vanilla anvils refuse to merge enchantments that share an exclusivity group, such as Sharpness with Smite, or Protection with Fire Protection. No Expensive Mod lifts that restriction so those combinations can be applied together.

Applying an incompatible combination

1. Have both enchantments available as enchanted books or on items.

2. Open the anvil and place the base item in the left slot.

3. Place the book or item carrying the second enchantment in the right slot.

4. The output should now show both enchantments merged onto one item instead of being greyed out.

5. If the merge is still refused, the pair may be governed by a custom compatibility rule. Check it with the compatibility command.

6. To explicitly allow a pair, run /noexpensive compatibility PUT <enchantment> <enchantment> using the two enchantment IDs.

7. Take the result and verify both enchantments appear on the tooltip.

Notes on stacking

Combining incompatible enchantments can push the total cost very high. Keep a healthy XP reserve, and if the anvil still locks, raise the max level with /noexpensive maxLevel.
