No Double Sneak Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if the mod is actually working?
Join a server with noticeable lag and watch another player sneak, or have a friend watch you. If their crouch animation plays once instead of stuttering into a second crouch, the mod is doing its job.
Does this mod need to be installed on the server too?
No, it works client-side. Only you need it installed for your own view of other players' sneaking to look correct, but each player who wants the fix needs it on their own client.
Why do I still see double crouching after installing it?
The mod only corrects the animation desync caused by lag; if the server is sending genuinely wrong position packets or another mod is overriding sneak animations, the glitch can persist. Check for conflicting animation mods and test on a different server.
Will this mod break my other animation or player-model mods?
It only touches the sneak animation state, so most animation mods coexist fine, but mods that fully replace the player renderer or animation system can conflict. If sneaking looks wrong after adding another mod, remove it and test again.
Does it work in singleplayer or only on servers?
It works everywhere, but you'll only notice a difference where lag causes the desync, which is almost always on servers. In singleplayer there's usually nothing to fix.
Is this mod safe to add to an existing world?
Yes, it's a client-side visual fix and doesn't change world data, so you can add or remove it at any time without corrupting anything.
Why does my own sneak look fine but other players look broken?
The glitch is about how the server relays other players' sneak states to your client, so your own view is generated locally and stays smooth. The mod corrects the incoming animation for other players.
Does this mod help with other lag-related animation glitches?
No, it specifically targets the double crouch/sneak desync. Other animation stutters from lag, like walking or arm swings, are separate issues it doesn't address.
Will this improve my FPS or reduce lag?
No, it's a visual correction, not a performance mod. It doesn't change your framerate or the server's tick rate; it just makes the sneak animation display correctly.
How do I test whether the fix is working without another player?
Use a second account or a recording/replay setup to view your character from another perspective while sneaking on a laggy server. If the crouch plays once cleanly, the mod is working.
