Check if a Single Player is Using a Nickname

Using the Single Player Command

To check whether one specific player is using a nickname or their real Mojang username, use the targeted version of the command.

Steps

1. Open the chat window (default: T key)

2. Type /nicknamedetector <playername> where <playername> is the exact username of the player you want to check

3. Press Enter to execute the command

The mod will query Mojang's database and return a result telling you whether the name displayed is their original registered username or a nickname they've set.

Understanding the Result

If the player is using their real username, the mod will indicate this. If they're using a nickname, it will also be flagged. This is useful when you want to verify a specific player's identity without checking everyone on the server at once.

Make sure you spell the player's name correctly—the command is case-sensitive and must match exactly how it appears in-game.
