How to Tune the Lightmap for More Vibrant Colors

What the Lightmap Adjustment Does

Nicer Skies tweaks Minecraft's lightmap so colors look more vibrant and darks look deeper. This affects how bright and saturated the whole world appears, not just the sky.

Adjusting It

1. Open the mod's config. Depending on your setup this is either an in-game config menu or a config file in your instance's config folder.

2. Look for the lightmap-related options. The mod exposes customization for the lightmap, so you can enable or disable the tweak and adjust how strong it is.

3. Change one setting at a time, then return to the world to see the result. Lightmap changes apply immediately in most cases, but a quick world reload guarantees a clean preview.

4. Compare a scene with strong shadows — a cave or a forest at dusk — since lightmap changes are most obvious where light and dark meet.

If You Don't Like the Result

  • Turn the lightmap tweak off to return to vanilla brightness while keeping the nebula and star features.
  • If colors look too dark, reduce the intensity rather than disabling it entirely.
  • Note that other mods that alter lighting or shaders may stack with this, so disable those first when troubleshooting.
