Nicer Skies Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get the nebula sky to show up?
Nebulas generate automatically per world seed, so simply loading a world with the mod installed should display them. If you see a plain vanilla sky, check that the mod is actually loaded and that no other sky or shader mod is overriding it.
Why does every world have a different sky?
The nebula skybox is seed-dependent, meaning the pattern is generated from your world seed rather than being fixed. This is why two worlds never share the same sky, and why the same seed always reproduces the same nebulas.
Can I change the sky in an existing world?
The nebula pattern is tied to the world seed, so you can't reroll it without changing the seed itself. If you want a different sky, start a new world and let the mod generate a fresh pattern from that seed.
Why don't my stars twinkle or show colors?
Twinkling and colored stars are part of the mod's star rendering, which only appears at night when stars are visible. If stars look flat and white, another mod or a resource pack is likely overriding the star layer.
How do I make the sky colors more vibrant or darker?
Use the lightmap adjustments, which tweak how colors are rendered to be more vibrant and dark. These settings are optional and customizable, so you can tune them to your preference rather than being stuck with the default look.
Does Nicer Skies work with shaders?
Shader packs typically replace the sky and lightmap entirely, which will hide the mod's nebulas, stars, and color tweaks. If you want the mod's sky, disable shaders or use one that doesn't override the skybox.
Will this mod hurt my FPS?
The nebula skybox is rendered dynamically, so it does add some cost compared to a plain vanilla sky. On most systems the impact is small, but if you're struggling, lowering other graphics settings or disabling shaders will help more than anything.
Can I turn off the nebulas but keep the stars?
The mod's features are separate, so you can adjust the lightmap and star rendering independently of the nebula skybox. Check the mod's config options to toggle individual features rather than disabling the whole mod.
Why is my sky just blue and violet with no nebula detail?
The blue-and-violet mix is the base sky color, and the nebulas are layered on top of it. If you only see the gradient, the nebula layer may be disabled in config or being hidden by another sky-rendering mod.
Does Nicer Skies work on a server or with friends?
It's a client-side visual mod, so each player needs it installed to see the nicer sky themselves. The sky is generated from the world seed, so everyone with the mod will see the same nebulas in the same world.
