How to Find, Manage, and Share Nicephore Screenshots
Locating the Files
Nicephore saves screenshots to the same screenshots directory Minecraft uses by default, inside your game instance folder. Each capture produces a JPEG and a PNG with matching names. The fastest way to reach the folder is the Open Folder button in chat after taking a screenshot — it opens your file manager at the correct location.
Choosing the Right File to Share
- For Discord, forums, or anywhere with upload limits: use the JPEG. It is significantly smaller and uploads reliably.
- For editing, thumbnails, or archival: use the PNG. It keeps full quality and avoids compression
artifacts.
Cleaning Up
Because every screenshot creates two files, the folder grows twice as fast. Periodically delete the format you do not need — most players keep the JPEGs for sharing and remove PNGs once they are done editing, or vice versa if they archive originals. Sorting the folder by date makes it easy to spot the newest pair.
Troubleshooting
- If no chat buttons appear, confirm the mod is loaded and check that chat is not hidden.
- If the folder button opens the wrong place, verify your instance's screenshot path in the launcher.
- If a JPEG looks soft, that is expected compression — the PNG is the reference copy.
Managing both formats deliberately keeps your folder usable over time.
