How do I take a screenshot with Nicephore?
Take a screenshot the same way you normally would in Minecraft. Nicephore hooks into the standard screenshot key, so no extra setup is needed — the mod just changes what happens afterward.
Where do my Nicephore screenshots go?
They're saved to the same screenshots folder Minecraft normally uses. Nicephore adds a JPEG copy alongside the original PNG, and the chat button for opening the folder takes you straight there.
What are the three buttons that appear in chat after a screenshot?
One opens the PNG version, one opens the JPEG version, and one opens the screenshots folder on your computer. They show up in chat right after you take the shot so you can act on it immediately.
Does Nicephore delete my original PNG screenshots?
No. It keeps the original PNG for editing purposes and saves an additional JPEG copy to reduce file size. You get both versions every time.
How do I view a screenshot without leaving Minecraft?
Use the view button that appears in chat after taking the screenshot, or open the mod's HUD/options menu to browse your screenshots in-game. This saves you from alt-tabbing to your file explorer.

That's the mod working as intended — it saves a JPEG copy to keep file sizes small for easy sharing. The original PNG is still saved alongside it if you need the lossless version.
Can I still use the normal Minecraft screenshot feature with Nicephore installed?
Yes. Nicephore doesn't replace the screenshot key or break vanilla behavior; it just adds JPEG saving and the in-chat buttons on top of it.
Does Nicephore work with other screenshot or chat mods?
It's designed to be lightweight and generally plays fine with other mods, but chat-modifying mods could conflict with the chat buttons. If buttons don't appear, try testing without other chat mods to isolate the issue.
Will Nicephore hurt my game's performance?
No — it only does work at the moment you take a screenshot, so there's no ongoing performance cost while playing. The JPEG conversion is a quick one-time operation per screenshot.
