Nether Water Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why does my water disappear when I place it in the Nether?
You don't have Nether Water Mod installed or it didn't load properly. Make sure the mod is in your mods folder and that you've restarted Minecraft. Once installed, water buckets will work normally in the Nether without evaporating.
How do I convert a lava lake to obsidian?
Place water sources on the surface of the lava lake using water buckets. The water will flow across the lava and convert any lava source blocks it touches into obsidian, while flowing water won't convert lava.
Does water flow differently in the Nether with this mod?
No, water flows exactly like it does in the Overworld—it spreads horizontally up to 8 blocks and flows downward until it hits a block or spreads out again. The only difference is it no longer evaporates.
Can I use water to farm or grow crops in the Nether?
Water will hydrate farmland in the Nether just like in the Overworld, but crops won't grow there due to the Nether's natural conditions—this mod only affects water placement and flow, not crop growth mechanics.
What happens if water touches lava flowing down from above?
Only lava source blocks are converted to obsidian when touched by water; flowing lava will not convert. This is useful for controlling which lava gets converted when dealing with multiple lava sources.
Can I build a canal or channel system in the Nether with this mod?
Yes, you can dig channels and place water sources to create flowing water systems in the Nether just like in the Overworld. This is useful for transporting items or creating aesthetic builds.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod has minimal performance impact since it only changes how water behaves in one dimension. Large amounts of flowing water may cause lag like in the Overworld, but the mod itself doesn't add extra overhead.
Will this mod work with other mods that change Nether mechanics?
Nether Water Mod should work with most other mods, but conflicts can occur with mods that heavily modify Nether physics or water behavior. Test your mod combination to be sure, and check mod documentation if issues arise.
How do I prevent water from converting lava I want to keep?
Place blocks or barriers between water sources and lava you want to protect, or use flowing water instead of source blocks since only source blocks convert lava to obsidian. Plan your water placement carefully to avoid unwanted conversions.
Can I pick up Nether water with a bucket?
Yes, you can collect water from the Nether with a water bucket just like in the Overworld once this mod is installed. The water will remain in the bucket and won't evaporate.
