Editing NBT Data After Copying It
Why Copying Matters for Editing
NBT data shown in the chat box cannot normally be selected with your mouse, which makes editing it by hand nearly impossible. The NBT Copy Mod solves the first half of the problem by letting you click COPY and get the raw text onto your
clipboard. From there, editing becomes a normal text-editing task.
Step-by-Step Workflow
1. Run /cgetdata (single-player) or /data get (server) on the entity whose data you want to change.
2. Click the COPY button at the end of the output.
3. Paste the text into a plain text editor or a notes app.
4. Modify only the tag values you need — keep the braces, brackets, commas, and quotation marks exactly as they were, since NBT is strict about syntax.
5. Use the edited string in whatever command, datapack, or tool you are feeding it into.
Keeping the Format Intact
The whole point of copying rather than retyping is that the structure stays correct. Avoid letting a word processor auto-format quotes into curly quotes, and do not add line breaks inside the tag tree unless the tool you are pasting into expects them. If your edit breaks the command, re-run the original command and copy fresh data to start over.
