Maximize Charcoal Drops from Wildfires
Set Up a Controlled Burn Zone
To reliably farm charcoal from natural fire spread, create a dedicated area where logs can burn safely without destroying your base.
1. Clear a flat area away from important structures
2. Stack logs densely in a compact region
3. Surround the area with non-flammable blocks (stone, dirt, water) to contain the fire
4. Light the logs on fire using flint and steel or lava
Optimize Your Collection
Since each burned log has a chance to drop charcoal rather than disappear entirely, you'll recover a significant portion of your wood investment. Position yourself nearby to collect drops quickly, or use hoppers and chests to automate collection around the burn zone.
The more logs you burn simultaneously, the more charcoal you'll accumulate. However, be patient—not every log will produce charcoal, so plan your wood supply accordingly. This method is most efficient when you have excess logs from tree farming or clearing.
