How do I rename a mob without using an anvil?
Hold a name tag in your hand and right-click the mob you want to rename. A text screen will open where you can type a new name directly. Press Enter to confirm, and the name tag will be applied instantly without needing experience points.
What happens if I try to give a mob the same name it already has?
The mod prevents the name tag from being consumed. The item stays in your inventory so you don't waste it on a redundant rename.
Can I get my name tag back if I change my mind about a pet's name?
Yes. Use shears on the named mob to remove its custom name, and you'll receive the name tag back in your inventory.
Do named mobs drop their name tags when they die?
Yes. When a mob with a custom name dies, it drops the specific name tag you gave it, so you can reuse it on another mob instead of losing it.
How do I make text colorful or bold on a name tag?
The mod supports formatting codes that let you add colors, bold, italic, and other text styles to mob names. Type the formatting codes into the name screen just like you would in a regular Minecraft text component.
Can I rename all types of mobs or only certain ones?
