How to Craft a Name Tag With the Name Tag Tweaks Recipe

Why Craft It

Vanilla name tags are rare loot — you usually find them in dungeon chests or from fishing. Name Tag Tweaks adds a crafting recipe so you can make them yourself instead of relying on luck.

Steps

1. Open a crafting table.

2. Place the recipe ingredients in the pattern shown on the mod's wiki page (the exact layout and ingredients are listed there — check the crafting recipe screenshot on the mod page for the precise arrangement).

3. Take the resulting name tag from the output slot.

After Crafting

A freshly crafted name tag is blank. To give it a name, either:

  • Use an anvil with the tag and your desired name (vanilla method), or
  • Hold it and run /nametag <name> if the command is enabled.

Tips

  • Craft several at once so you always have spares for naming pets, mobs, or organizing storage.
  • Combine with the drop-on-death behavior: name a mob, and if it dies you get the tag back, so a single crafted tag can be reused many times.
  • If the recipe doesn't appear in your recipe book, make sure the mod is loaded and check the mod's wiki for the exact ingredient list.
