MyPet Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I tame my first pet?
Find a mob you want to tame, then use the appropriate taming item on it (different mobs require different items). Once tamed, the pet will follow you and can be managed through pet commands or GUI menus.
What mobs can I tame as pets?
MyPet allows you to tame a wide variety of mobs beyond vanilla tamable animals, including hostile mobs and creatures not normally available as pets in standard Minecraft. Check your server's configuration or the mod documentation for the complete list of tamable mobs.
How do I access my pet's inventory?
Right-click your pet or use the pet GUI command to open your pet's inventory screen, where you can store items for transport or later use. Your pet's inventory persists even if the pet despawns.
Why isn't my pet leveling up?
Pets gain experience by fighting mobs, completing tasks, or through other server-configured methods depending on their skills. Make sure your pet is actively participating in activities—passive pets or those not engaged in combat will level more slowly.
Can I have multiple pets at once?
Most servers allow players to own multiple pets, though the exact limit depends on your server's configuration and your player rank or permissions. Check with your server administrator if you're unsure of your pet limit.
What happens to my pet if I log off?
Your pet is saved to the server and will be waiting for you when you log back in, usually spawning near your last location or at a designated pet spawn point. Your pet's inventory and experience are preserved.
How do I rename my pet?
Use the pet rename command or access the rename option through your pet's GUI menu to give your pet a custom name that will display above it in the world.
Can my pet die permanently?
Pets can be defeated in combat and will need to be revived, typically through special items or commands—they don't permanently disappear when defeated. Check your server's specific pet death mechanics, as these may be customized.
Do pets cause lag on the server?
Pets are generally optimized to minimize performance impact, but having many active pets on a server can affect performance depending on your server hardware and configuration. Server administrators can adjust pet settings to balance gameplay and performance.
How do I dismiss or release my pet?
Use the pet dismiss or release command through the pet GUI or chat commands to temporarily or permanently remove your pet from active duty. Dismissed pets can usually be recalled later, while released pets may be gone permanently depending on your server settings.
