How to Build a Redstone-Triggered Instrument Setup
The Goal
Make instruments play when a redstone signal fires, so doors, traps, or machines can produce music automatically.
Items You Need
- Redstone Piano or Redstone Guitar: these are the redstone-aware versions of the normal instruments.
- Redstone dust, levers, buttons, pressure plates, or repeaters.
- Optionally a Music Box and a Music Sheet for longer songs.
Wiring It Up
1. Place the Redstone Piano or Redstone Guitar where you want the sound.
2. Run redstone dust from your trigger (lever, button, plate) to the instrument.
3. Powering the block plays its note. Different signal strengths or input sides may select different notes, so experiment with repeater delays to sequence a melody.
4. Chain multiple instruments on the same line with repeaters between them to stagger their notes.
Sequencing a Tune
- Use repeater delay to space notes in time.
- Use a clock (hopper clock or repeater loop) to repeat a pattern.
- For a full song, drive a Music Box with a pulse instead of hand-triggering each note.
Tips
- Keep wiring on one side of the instrument to avoid accidental note changes.
- Label your lines; complex redstone music gets confusing fast.
