Troubleshoot Portals Taking Players to Wrong Worlds

Diagnosing Portal Problems

If portals are sending players to unexpected worlds, the plugin's linking system may need adjustment.

Common Causes

  • Mismatched world names: Worlds that should auto-link don't follow the naming convention (e.g., world and world_nether)
  • Missing manual links: Custom world pairs haven't been configured in the plugin settings
  • Conflicting portals: Multiple portals in the same world aren't properly linked to different destinations
  • Configuration not reloaded: Changes to world linking haven't been applied yet

Fixing It

1. Check your world names match the expected pattern, or manually link them in the configuration

2. Verify the plugin has been reloaded after any configuration changes

3. Test each portal individually to identify which ones are misbehaving

4. Use the plugin's linking commands to explicitly set problem portals to their correct destinations

5. Confirm the fix by entering the portal and checking your location

Once linked correctly, portals will consistently route players to the intended world every time.
