Multiverse-Core Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with Multiverse-Core after installing it?
Run the /mv command to see the main help menu and confirm the plugin loaded correctly. From there, use /mv create to make your first world, then /mv tp to travel to it. Most commands follow the /mv pattern.
What's the difference between /mv create and /mv import?
Use /mv create when you want Multiverse to generate a brand new world from scratch. Use /mv import when a world folder already exists on your server (for example, the default 'world' folder) and you want Multiverse to register and manage it.
Why does my new world not show up in the world list?
The world list only refreshes when Multiverse loads it, so run /mv list to confirm it was registered. If it's missing, check the server console for errors during creation — a failed generator or bad seed will silently abort the world.
How do I make a world use a specific generator like a skyblock or amplified terrain?
Pass the generator name as an argument when creating the world, for example /mv create normal -g . The generator plugin must be installed and registered with Multiverse first, otherwise the world falls back to the default generator.
Can I set a different spawn point for each world?
Yes — teleport to the spot you want and run /mv setspawn while standing there. Each world stores its own spawn, so players entering that world arrive at that location rather than the server's global spawn.
How do I stop players from wandering into my admin or creative world?
Use a permissions plugin to deny the teleport permission for that specific world, or set an enforce-access flag on the world so only permitted players can enter. The /mv modify command lets you toggle per-world access settings without editing config files by hand.
Why can't players use /mv tp even though they have permission?
Check that the destination world has access enforcement disabled or that the player has the matching per-world permission node. Also confirm the world is actually loaded — teleporting to an unloaded world fails silently.
Does Multiverse-Core work with other world management or portal plugins?
Multiverse is designed to be modular, so the core handles world creation and management while add-ons like Multiverse-Portals and Multiverse-NetherPortals handle linking worlds together. Install only the add-ons you need to avoid command conflicts.
Will having lots of Multiverse worlds hurt my server's performance?
Loaded worlds consume memory and tick time, so keep only the worlds players are actively using loaded and unload the rest. Multiverse lets you unload worlds without deleting them, and they can be reloaded on demand.
How do I delete a world I no longer want?
Run /mv delete to remove it from Multiverse's registry, then /mv confirm when prompted. The world folder itself may remain on disk, so remove it manually if you want to reclaim the space.
