Creating Realistic Train Routes Through Terrain
Surveying and Planning Routes
Before laying track, walk your intended route and note elevation changes. The mod supports track placement on slopes and curves, but planning ahead prevents awkward angles. Mark key waypoints like stations, tunnels, and bridges where your route will pass.
Building Elevated and Curved Sections
Use the mod's specialized curved track pieces to create realistic bends rather than sharp 90-degree turns. For elevated sections, build support structures beneath the track using blocks, then place catenary poles to match the height. Curved tracks should transition smoothly to prevent train derailment or visual glitches.
Adding Tunnels and Scenic Elements
For tunnel sections, build a frame around your track using solid blocks, then place track inside. The mod's trains will render correctly within enclosed spaces. Add scenery around your route—trees, rocks, and terrain features—to create visual interest. Russian-themed stations benefit from coniferous forests and industrial-looking structures.
Testing the Complete Route
Spawn a train at your starting point and guide it through the entire route. Watch for track connection issues, collision problems, or animation glitches. Make adjustments to track alignment or catenary placement as needed before finalizing your railway.
