How to Use Storage Cabinets, Drawers, Crates, and Storage Jars

Picking the right container

Crates are the mod's general-purpose storage block — place one and right-click to open a chest-like inventory. Drawers and Storage Cabinets are furniture-shaped storage that fit into rooms; right-click them to open. Storage Jars are small decorative containers, good for a single stack or a display item on a shelf or counter.

Organizing your base

Use Crates in a storage room for bulk items, and put Drawers and Storage Cabinets in living areas where a chest would look out of place. Kitchen Storage Cabinets and Kitchen Drawers belong in the kitchen line alongside the sink and cutting board. Because every container shares the same wood variants, you can color-code storage by wood type — oak for food, birch for tools, and so on.

Mailboxes

A Mailbox is a decorative storage-adjacent block that fits on a post or wall near your entrance. Place it by your front door to complete the exterior look. It matches the wood variant of the rest of your build, so craft it from the same planks you used for your house.
