Creating a Custom Forest with Mixed Tree Sizes

Planning Your Forest Layout

Decide on a mix of normal, large, and giant trees to create visual variety. Giant trees work best as focal points—space them out so they don't overcrowd the landscape. Surround them with medium and large trees to fill gaps and create depth.

Planting and Growth

Gather saplings from both regular and giant trees. Plant saplings in suitable biomes where they'll grow into their appropriate size variant. The mod respects biome rules, so oak saplings in a forest will grow as giant oaks, while the same saplings in a plains biome stay normal-sized.

Design Considerations

Giant trees create dramatic shadows and alter light levels significantly. Use this to your advantage—plant shade-tolerant plants like ferns and mushrooms beneath the canopy. Leave clearings between massive trees so players can navigate and see the forest structure. Mix in different tree types (oak, birch, spruce, dark oak) to add color and texture variation to your forest.
