More Tree Sizes Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do giant trees spawn automatically or do I need to do something?
Giant trees spawn naturally in your world just like regular trees—you don't need to plant or configure anything. They'll appear in forests and biomes where their normal-sized versions grow, mixed in with standard trees.
Can I turn off giant trees in specific biomes?
The mod doesn't have built-in biome filters, but giant trees will only spawn where their tree type naturally belongs (oaks in forests, spruces in taigas, etc.). If you want to disable them entirely, you'd need to remove the mod or check if a config option exists in your mod loader.
Why are mobs spawning under my giant trees during the day?
Huge trees create dense shadows under their canopies, which allows hostile mobs like spiders to spawn even in daylight. Light up these dark areas with torches or other light sources to prevent mob spawning.
How much wood do you actually get from chopping down a giant tree?
Giant trees are roughly five times larger than normal trees, so you'll harvest significantly more wood—but the exact amount depends on the tree type and how tall it grows. Large trees give about twice as much wood as standard trees.
Do giant trees drop more saplings when I chop them down?
Giant trees drop more wood and leaves due to their size, which means you'll get more saplings from the leaf decay, but the drop rate itself isn't changed by the mod.
Can I use bone meal to grow giant trees from saplings?
No—giant trees only spawn naturally in the world. Using bone meal on saplings will still grow regular-sized trees.
Are the Saguaro cacti only in deserts?
Yes, tall Saguaro cacti spawn in desert biomes where regular cacti naturally grow, adding more visual variety to sandy areas.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Giant trees are just larger versions of vanilla trees using the same rendering system, so performance impact should be minimal. If you're experiencing lag, it's more likely from having too many mobs spawning in the shadows under the trees.
Do giant trees change how the world generates or corrupt my save?
No—the mod only adds new tree variants to natural generation and doesn't alter terrain or existing chunks. You can safely add or remove it from your world.
Can I have only giant trees and no normal trees?
The mod doesn't have an option to disable normal trees, so both sizes will spawn together. If you want a forest of only huge trees, you'd need to manually plant and grow them yourself.
