More Hitboxes Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to install anything else for this mod to work?
More Hitboxes Mod is a library mod, meaning it doesn't add content by itself—it only works when other mods use it to create mobs with multiple hitboxes. You'll need to install mods that are built to use More Hitboxes in order to see its features in action.
How do I see the hitboxes on mobs?
Enable the hitbox debug visualization using the debug hotkey (usually toggled with a keybind in your mod settings). This will show colored outlines around each hitbox on a mob so you can see exactly where to aim.
Can I attack different body parts of mobs for different effects?
Yes, if a mod has set up attack boxes on specific body parts. Hitting a mob's head, legs, or body may trigger different effects depending on how the mod creator configured those hitboxes, but this depends entirely on the mod using More Hitboxes.
Will this mod slow down my game?
More Hitboxes Mod has minimal performance impact on its own since it's just a library. Performance depends on how many mobs with multiple hitboxes are loaded at once—more complex mobs with many hitboxes will use more resources than vanilla mobs.
Does this work with GeckoLib animations?
Yes, More Hitboxes is designed to work with GeckoLib, allowing hitboxes to move and rotate along with animated body parts. Mods that use both GeckoLib and More Hitboxes will have hitboxes that follow the animation smoothly.
Can I use this mod with other mob-adding mods?
More Hitboxes only affects mobs that are specifically built to use it. Other mob-adding mods will work fine alongside it, but their mobs will continue to use single hitboxes unless they're designed to support More Hitboxes.
What's the Blockbench plugin for?
The Blockbench plugin is a tool for modders to design and position multiple hitboxes on custom mobs visually within Blockbench, rather than coding them manually. As a player, you don't need to use it directly.
Do hitboxes affect mob knockback or damage differently?
That depends on how the mod using More Hitboxes has configured it. Some mods may make certain body parts take more or less knockback, or deal different damage, but More Hitboxes itself just provides the framework—the behavior is up to each mod.
Will this mod work in multiplayer?
Yes, More Hitboxes works in multiplayer as long as all players have the mod installed. The server doesn't need it, but clients do in order to see and interact with the multiple hitboxes correctly.
Can I disable hitbox outlines if they're distracting?
Yes, you can toggle the debug hitbox visualization on and off using the keybind in your mod settings, or disable it entirely if you prefer not to see the outlines during normal gameplay.
