Set Up an Automatic Composter with Hoppers

Using Hoppers for Hands-Free Composting

This data pack lets you automate composting by placing a hopper directly on top of a composter, just like with vanilla compostable items.

Steps

1. Place your composter on a solid block where you want it to operate.

2. Place a hopper on top of the composter. The hopper's output should face downward into the composter.

3. Connect an input hopper to the side or top of your upper hopper to feed items into the system.

4. Add compostable items to the input hopper. Items will automatically transfer down and be composted.

5. Collect bone meal from the composter output using another hopper below, or collect it manually when the composter reaches level 7 (full).

Tips

• Items with higher composting chances (like food) fill the composter faster than low-chance items (like sticks).
• You can chain multiple hoppers together to create a sorting system that feeds different compostable items into separate composters.
• The hopper system works with both new and vanilla compostable items.
