More Buckets Vanilla Bucket Progression Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make my first bucket on day 1?
Collect five wooden planks and arrange them in a V-shape in a crafting table—the same pattern as an iron bucket. This gives you a wooden bucket with 16 uses, enough to gather water or milk right away.
Can I stack buckets in my inventory?
Only empty buckets stack, and only certain tiers: copper and diamond buckets stack up to 16 when empty, while wooden, bamboo, and gold buckets don't stack at all. Once a bucket holds liquid, it takes a full inventory slot.
What's the difference between copper and gold buckets?
Copper buckets are permanent and can pick up powder snow, but cannot hold lava. Gold buckets have 32 uses before breaking, can hold both lava and powder snow, but need to be repaired in a crafting grid with gold ingots.
How do I transport lava without losing my bucket?
Use a gold bucket (which can safely hold lava) or a diamond bucket (which is indestructible). You can also enchant any bucket with Thermal Shield at an anvil to guard it against heat damage.
Can I repair my buckets?
Yes—place a damaged wooden, bamboo, or gold bucket in a crafting grid with its repair material (wooden planks, bamboo planks, or gold ingots) to restore durability. Copper and diamond buckets don't need repair since they're permanent.
What does the Fluid Infinity enchantment do?
Fluid Infinity grants continuous liquid dispensing capabilities, allowing your bucket to dispense fluids without depleting its durability or contents.
How do I collect powder snow efficiently?
Use a copper bucket (which stacks up to 16 when empty) or a gold/diamond bucket. Copper is the most efficient for mass collection since you can carry multiple empty buckets at once.
Is the iron bucket recipe different in this mod?
Yes—the standard iron bucket now requires five iron ingots arranged in a V-shape instead of three, making it more expensive and encouraging use of earlier-tier buckets.
What does Conservation enchantment do?
Conservation reduces durability loss when you fill, empty, or milk with your bucket, making gold and other durability-limited buckets last longer between repairs.
Should I skip wooden and bamboo buckets and go straight to copper?
No—wooden and bamboo buckets are designed as true early-game tools you can craft on day one with just planks, while copper requires mining. Use them to gather water and milk until you reach the copper tier underground.
