How to Change the Mooshroom Spawn Chance in the Config

The mod ships with a config file that controls how often a mooshroom replaces a normal cow. If the default rate feels too rare or too common for your world, you can tune it without touching any code.

Finding the Config File

1. Close Minecraft completely so the config isn't locked while you edit it.

2. Open your game directory (the folder that contains mods, saves, and config).

3. Open the config folder and look for a file matching the mod's name, usually ending in .toml or .json depending on your mod loader.

4. Open it with any plain text editor.

Editing the Spawn Chance

Inside you'll find an entry named chanceCowIsMooshroom. Its value is a decimal between 0 and 1.0 that represents the probability a spawning cow becomes a mooshroom instead.

  • Set it to 0 to disable mooshroom replacement entirely.
  • Set it to 1.0 to make every naturally spawning cow a mooshroom.
  • Values in between scale the odds — a smaller decimal means mooshrooms are rarer.

Save the file, then relaunch the game. The change applies to newly spawned cows; existing animals in already-loaded chunks keep their current type until they despawn or the chunk is regenerated. If you run a server, edit the config on the server side, since spawning is decided there.
