How to Breed and Farm Mooshrooms Reliably
Once you've found a mooshroom, breeding it lets you build a steady supply without relying on random spawns.
Breeding Basics
1. Gather wheat — mooshrooms breed with the same food as cows.
2. Right-click two adult mooshrooms with wheat in hand to feed each one; hearts appear when they're ready.
3. They produce a baby mooshroom, which grows into an adult over time.
Because the baby inherits the mooshroom type, you can grow a whole herd from a single pair.
Building a Farm
1. Fence off a grass area with a gate so the animals can't wander off.
2. Keep a water source and a light source so the pen stays safe at night.
3. Plant a wheat field nearby to feed breeding and to regrow mushrooms for stew harvesting.
4. Separate adults from babies if you want to control population, since mooshrooms breed repeatedly as long as food is available.
Tips
- Mooshrooms can't be bred with mushroom stew or mushrooms — only wheat works.
- If you shear one, it becomes a normal cow and its offspring will be cows too, so avoid shearing your breeding stock.
- A penned herd near your base means you never need to search the wild again for stew or milk.
