Modular Golems FAQ
20 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I even start with this mod, I just installed it?
Craft a
Golem Workbench first — it's the core block where you assemble golems from modular parts. Place it down, open it, and build a basic golem body before worrying about upgrades or weapons.

You combine modular parts at the
Golem Workbench to form a golem body, then give it a head, arms, and legs depending on the golem type you want. Start with a simple Humanoid or Metal Golem before trying specialized builds like the Dog Golem or Beacon Golem.

Golems have a limited number of upgrade slots, and you expand them using the
Add 1 Upgrade Slot or
Add 100 Upgrade Slots items. Each upgrade you install — like
Diamond Upgrade, Emerald Upgrade, or
Fire Immune Upgrade — occupies a slot, so plan which ones matter most for your golem's role.

Config Cards come in many colors and let you preset behaviors or settings for your golems, which you then apply with the
Command Wand. Use different colors to keep separate configurations for different golems or tasks instead of redoing settings each time.

Equip your golem with a golem weapon like a Golem Sword, Golem Axe, or Golem Spear, then use the
Hostile Wand to set it to target hostile mobs. The

Check that you've actually given it a task via the
Command Wand or
Hostile Wand — a freshly built golem has no orders by default. Also confirm it has the right upgrades and equipment for the job, since an unarmed golem won't fight effectively.

Beacon Golems use the
Beacon Cannon and
Beacon Boots to fire Beacon Lasers at targets. You'll need to build the golem specifically for this role and equip the beacon gear — it's a ranged build, not a melee one.
Can I put armor on my golem?
Yes — golem armor sets like Barbaric Vanguard (Helmet, Chestplate, Shinguard, Boots) and
Beacon Boots can be equipped on golems. Equip them the same way you'd equip weapons, and match the armor to the golem's role for best results.
What's the difference between the
command wand and hostile wand?
The
Command Wand issues general orders and applies Config Card settings to your golems. The
Hostile Wand is specifically for toggling hostile-targeting behavior, so use it when you want a golem to fight rather than just follow or guard.
