Mods Optimizer Mod FAQ

6 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does the Mods Optimizer Mod do?
It automatically cleans and organizes your mods folder by removing duplicate mod versions and classifying mods. It also renames or moves incompatible client-only mods on servers.
How does it classify mods as client-side, server-side, or both?
It reads metadata from mods.toml, fabric.mod.json, quilt.mod.json, and META-INF/MANIFEST.MF. If metadata is missing, it falls back to an internal list of known mods.
What happens to client-only mods when running on a server?
They are renamed with a .client suffix, such as ???.client. This prevents them from being loaded on the server.
How does it handle duplicate or older mod versions?
It detects and removes older versions based on version numbers and patterns. This helps avoid conflicts and crashes caused by multiple versions in one folder.
Why is this mod useful if mods don't clearly state their side?
Many mods don't state whether they are client-side or server-side, and some don't follow proper versioning. The mod uses metadata and a known-mods list to decide classification automatically.
What files does it scan in the mods folder?
It scans all .jar files inside the mods folder. It then reads their metadata to determine each mod's classification.
