Switch Between Different Classic Terrain Generators

Choosing Your Generator

Modern Beta Mod includes multiple classic terrain generators spanning different eras of Minecraft development. When creating a new world, the chunk generator dropdown menu displays all available options:

• Alpha 1.1.2_01: Early Minecraft with simpler terrain
• Infdev versions (multiple dates): Experimental terrain from development builds
• Indev 20100223: Finite world generation with unique characteristics
• Classic 0.30: Very early Minecraft terrain
• Pocket Edition v0.6.0 alpha: Mobile Minecraft generation

Experiencing the Differences

Each generator produces noticeably different terrain. Alpha feels more chaotic, Infdev versions have experimental features, and Classic generates smaller, more contained worlds. Try creating test worlds with different generators to see which era appeals to you.

Important Note

Once you select a generator for a world, it cannot be changed. Plan ahead and create separate worlds if you want to experience multiple generators. Each world will generate terrain appropriate to its selected version, complete with era-specific biome layouts and cave systems.
