Model Gap Fix Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does Model Gap Fix actually do?
It removes the texture zooming that vanilla applies to block and item model faces, so each face uses the full texture instead of a slightly shrunken portion. This closes the thin seams that appear at corners and edges of 3D models.
Do I need to enable anything after installing it?
No, it works automatically once installed as a client-side mod. Just launch the game and the gaps on 3D block and item models should be gone without any config changes.
Why do my 2D items still have tiny gaps even with the mod?
2D item models are generated quad by quad, so simply removing texture zooming can introduce a different kind of tiny seam. The mod handles these separately, but if you still see gaps, check that no resource pack is overriding the item models.
Does Model Gap Fix work on a server, or is it client-side only?
It is a client-side mod, so you only need it on your own game. You can join vanilla or modded servers and still get the fix, and other players won't be affected.
Will this mod break my resource packs?
It generally works fine with resource packs because it only changes how model faces are rendered, not the textures themselves. If a pack uses custom models with unusual UV mapping, test it and report any oddities.
Does Model Gap Fix work with shaders?
Yes, it is compatible with shader packs since it operates on the model rendering side before shaders apply their effects. If gaps reappear with a specific shader, try updating the shader pack or checking its model-related settings.
Why do I still see gaps after installing the mod?
Common causes are a resource pack overriding the affected models, another mod that changes model rendering, or the gaps being on 2D items that need the separate handling. Try disabling other model-related mods and packs one at a time to isolate the conflict.
Does it affect performance or FPS?
The impact is negligible because it only changes how existing model faces are textured, not how many are drawn. You should not notice any measurable FPS difference.
Is Model Gap Fix compatible with other model or rendering mods?
It usually coexists with most mods, but mods that also rewrite model rendering or texture atlases can conflict. If you see new visual glitches, test with only Model Gap Fix enabled to confirm it is not the cause.
Do I need to reinstall it after every game update?
You need a build of the mod that matches your game version, so after a major update you may have to wait for or install a compatible version. The mod itself does not need reconfiguring once a matching build is in place.
