Mobs and Villager Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I pick up an animal or villager?
Stand next to the creature you want to carry and interact with it while your hand is empty. The mob will appear as a 3D model in your hands, and you can walk around freely with it.
Can I carry more than one animal at a time?
No, you can only hold one creature per hand at a time. If you need to transport multiple animals in one trip, you'll need to use multiple players or make several journeys.
Will my villager lose their trades if I pick them up and move them?
No, all villager data including their profession, trades, and custom names are saved when you pick them up and restored when you place them down.
What happens if I drop an animal from high up?
Animals dropped from your hands take no fall damage, so you can safely place them down from any height without worrying about them dying.
Can I pick up baby animals, and will they grow up while I'm carrying them?
Yes, you can pick up babies, and they will remain babies while in your hands. They'll continue aging normally once you place them back down.
Will the animal make sounds or take damage while I'm carrying it?
No, mobs are completely protected while in your hands—they won't make noises, take damage, or interact with the environment.
Can I place an animal inside a block or wall?
The mod prevents you from placing animals inside solid blocks, so they won't suffocate or get stuck in terrain.
Do I need a lead, boat, or minecart to use this mod?
No, this mod replaces all those methods. You pick up animals directly with your empty hand and carry them as a 3D model.
Can I see the animal I'm holding in first-person and third-person view?
Yes, the mod shows the actual 3D model of the creature in both perspectives, so you can always see what you're carrying.
Does this mod work with custom or modded animals?
The mod supports most standard Minecraft creatures and many modded mobs, though compatibility depends on how the mob is coded. Check the mod's supported creatures list for specifics.
