How to Make a Safe Zone Where No Hostile Mobs Spawn
Scope the rule to an area
A safe zone works best when the deny rule is limited by location rather than applied globally. In your mobfilter.yml or .json5 config, create a rule that denies hostile mobs and attach a coordinate or radius condition to it. The condition tells the mod to only block spawns inside that region, so the rest of the world behaves normally.
You can either list specific hostile mob types or use a broader category if the mod supports one. Combining a coordinate condition with a mob list gives you precise control over exactly what is blocked and where.
Combine conditions for tighter control
Mob Filter lets you stack multiple conditions in a single rule. For a base safe zone you might combine:
- A coordinate or radius condition covering your build.
- A time-of-day condition if you only want protection at night.
- A light-level condition if you want to allow spawns in dark caves but not on the surface.
Each added condition narrows when and where the deny applies. Save the config and run the mod's reload command so changes apply live. Test by standing in the zone at night and confirming no hostile mobs appear, then step outside the radius to confirm normal spawning resumes.
