Enable and Adjust Cell Shading for a Cartoon Look
What Cell Shading Does
Cell shading (also called toon shading) makes your 3D model appear flat and hand-drawn, like it came straight from an anime. This effect works on your character model and can dramatically change how it looks in different lighting conditions.
Enabling Cell Shading
1. Open the MmdSkin Mod settings
2. Find the "Rendering" or "Visual Effects" section
3. Locate the "Cell Shading" or "Toon Shading" toggle
4. Enable it—your character will immediately adopt the cartoon appearance
Fine-Tuning the Effect
Most configurations allow you to adjust:
- Outline thickness: Controls how bold the black outlines appear around your character
- Color levels: Determines how many distinct color bands appear (fewer = more cartoon-like)
- Lighting sensitivity: Adjusts how dramatically shadows and highlights affect the shaded appearance
Experiment with these settings to match your preferred anime aesthetic. The effect is purely visual and doesn't affect gameplay mechanics.
