Apply Custom Animations to Your Character

Understanding Animation Files

The MmdSkin Mod uses VMD files to store animations. These files contain skeletal movements and morph (shape) animations that make your character perform specific actions like dancing, emoting, or performing attacks.

Loading an Animation

1. Obtain a VMD animation file compatible with your model

2. Access the mod's animation menu from settings or in-game controls

3. Select "Load Animation" and browse to your VMD file

4. Choose whether the animation should loop or play once

5. Assign the animation to a trigger (a keybind or action)

Blending Multiple Animations

The mod supports playing multiple animations simultaneously. This allows you to:

  • Combine a walking animation with an arm gesture
  • Layer facial expressions over body movements
  • Create complex sequences by blending compatible animations

Access the animation blending settings to adjust how different animations interact and influence each other. Experiment with blend weights to find natural-looking combinations.
