MixinTrace Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know MixinTrace is actually working?
Trigger a crash or force one, then open the crash report and scroll past the stack trace. If the mod is active, you'll see an extra section listing mixins and their configuration names near the bottom of the report.
Where in the crash report is the mixin list?
It's appended after the normal crash report content, usually under a heading that mentions mixins or mixin trace. Scroll to the very end of the file rather than reading from the top.
Does MixinTrace work on its own, or do I need another mod?
It works standalone. It hooks into the crash-report generation itself, so you don't need a separate crash-log mod for it to add its mixin listing.
My game isn't crashing — can I still see the mixin list?
The list is only written when a crash report is generated. If nothing crashes, there's nothing to read, so you'd need to reproduce the failure to get output.
What does the 'configuration name' next to a mixin tell me?
It points to the mixin config file that registered that mixin, which usually maps back to a specific mod. That's the fastest way to connect a mixin in the log to the mod that owns it.
A mixin in the list doesn't obviously belong to any mod I recognize — what now?
Search the config name or mixin class name in your mods folder or online. Config names often contain the mod's identifier even when the class name looks generic.
Can MixinTrace tell me which mod is conflicting with which?
Not directly — it shows which mixins are loaded and where they came from. You still have to compare entries to spot two mods targeting the same class, but the list makes that comparison possible.
Does MixinTrace slow down my game or affect performance?
It's a diagnostic tool that mainly does work when a crash report is generated, so normal gameplay impact is minimal. It isn't meant to run as a permanent performance-affecting mod.
Will MixinTrace conflict with other crash-report or logging mods?
It generally coexists with them since it only adds a section to the report. If output looks duplicated or malformed, temporarily remove other report-altering mods to isolate the cause.
Can I use MixinTrace to report a bug to a mod author?
Yes — copy the full crash report including the mixin section and attach it to your bug report. The mixin list gives the author the exact config and class names they need to reproduce the issue.
