Keep your mining area lit automatically with Illumination

Enable automatic lighting while mining

Illumination places light sources as you break blocks, eliminating the need to manually place torches and preventing mob spawning in your work area.

1. Enable Illumination in your mod settings

2. Ensure you have torches or other light blocks in your inventory

3. Begin mining or breaking blocks

4. Light sources will automatically place in nearby areas as you work

5. Adjust the lighting range in settings if needed

Pair with other components

Illumination works best alongside:

  • Veination or Lumbination: Automatically lights up large mining areas as you harvest ore veins or fell trees
  • Shaftanation: Keeps your mine shaft well-lit as it's being dug
  • Excavation: Prevents mob spawning in large excavated areas

Manage resources

Make sure you have enough torches in your inventory—Illumination will only place lights if you have the required blocks available. If lighting stops, check your inventory. Server admins may restrict which blocks can be used for lighting or disable the component entirely.
