How to Fix Unreadable Text or Menus That Look Wrong With Mindful Darkness

Because Mindful Darkness tints existing GUI textures rather than replacing them, some screens can end up with poor contrast, especially modded menus with unusual colors. Here is how to troubleshoot without giving up the dark theme.

Quick Fixes

1. Lower the darkness intensity first. A lighter tint often restores enough contrast for text to be readable.

2. Switch to a different darkening algorithm. Algorithms vary in how much they preserve original color, so another option may keep text legible.

3. Exclude the problem texture from the affected list so that specific screen stays at its original brightness while everything else remains dark.

4. Reopen the menu after each change, since some GUIs only redraw when reopened.

When to Disable Instead

If a screen is central to gameplay and no combination of intensity, algorithm, or exclusion makes it usable, temporarily toggle dark mode off for that session. You can always re-enable it later.

Remember that resource packs change GUI textures, so a pack that worked well before may interact differently with the darkening. Test your settings with the pack you actually play with, and adjust one variable at a time so you know exactly what fixed the readability problem.
