Building an Efficient Milk Farm with Milk All The Mobs
Why Expand Beyond Cows
With this mod, every sheep, pig, llama, horse, donkey, and mule in your base becomes a milk source. That means you can turn an existing animal pen into a milk farm without breeding cows, and you can milk animals you already keep for wool, riding, or packing.
Setting Up
1. Build a pen and lead your animals inside. Fences or walls keep them from wandering.
2. Keep at least one adult of each type you want to milk.
3. Stock a chest nearby with empty buckets.
4. Walk along the pen holding a bucket and right-click each animal in turn.
5. Deposit full buckets in the chest and refill from the empty stack.
Efficiency Tips
- Breed for numbers: More adults means more milk per pass. Sheep and pigs breed quickly with carrots, potatoes, or wheat.
- Tame your equines: Horses, donkeys, mules, and llamas must be tamed before milking, so tame them once and they stay usable.
- Automation limits: Milking is a player interaction, so it cannot be fully automated with hoppers or dispensers. Plan for manual passes.
A mixed pen of sheep, pigs, and a couple of tamed horses gives you a steady milk supply without dedicating space to cows.
