How to Use the Memory Title Mod to Diagnose Lag and Stutter
Spotting Memory Pressure
Lag and stutter in Minecraft often come from memory pressure rather than raw CPU load. With this mod you can confirm that suspicion without any extra tools. Play normally and keep an eye on the title bar. If the used-memory figure regularly approaches the maximum, the game is spending time on garbage collection instead of rendering, which shows up as periodic freezes.
Steps to Diagnose
1. Join the world where you notice stutter and let it settle for a minute.
2. Note the used and maximum values shown in the title bar.
3. Reproduce the stutter — walk into a dense area, open a large chest room, or trigger a lot of entity spawning.
4. Watch whether the used value spikes toward the maximum right as the stutter happens.
5. Leave the area and check whether the used value falls back down. If it does not fall, something is holding onto memory.
Acting on What You See
If the used value hugs the maximum, reduce render distance, simulation distance, or the number of loaded chunks. If the value drops normally after leaving a heavy area, the stutter is likely just garbage collection and lowering your allocation pressure will help. If the value never drops even in an empty area, a mod or entity may be leaking memory, and you should test with fewer mods enabled.
