Memory Usage Title Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on the memory usage display in the title bar?
The mod shows memory usage in the window title automatically once it's installed and the game is running. If you don't see it, make sure the mod is actually loaded for your current profile and that no other mod is overwriting the window title.
What do the numbers in the title bar actually mean?
The readout shows how much memory Minecraft is currently using compared to the maximum memory allocated to the game. The used value rises and falls as the game loads chunks, entities, and assets, while the max value stays fixed unless you change your allocated RAM.
Why does the memory number keep going up and down?
That's normal — Java's garbage collector frees unused memory periodically, so the used figure climbs as you play and drops when collection runs. Steady sawtooth patterns are healthy; a number that only climbs and never drops is the one to worry about.
Does this mod use extra RAM or hurt my FPS?
The mod only reads memory statistics and updates the window title, so its own footprint is negligible. Any FPS impact is effectively zero compared to the memory reporting itself.
The title bar shows the memory but I want to hide it sometimes — can I?
Check the mod's config file or in-game config screen for a toggle to enable or disable the title readout. If a toggle isn't available, you can remove or disable the mod for sessions where you don't want it.
Can I change how often the title bar updates?
Some versions expose an update interval in the config, letting you refresh the readout more or less frequently. If your config doesn't have that option, the mod uses its default refresh rate.
Will this mod conflict with other mods that change the window title?
Yes, potentially — if another mod also writes to the window title, one may overwrite the other. If your memory readout disappears, check for other title-modifying mods and disable the conflicting one.
Does it work on a server, or only singleplayer?
The mod runs on the client and reads your local game's memory, so it works in both singleplayer and multiplayer. On a server, the number reflects your client's memory, not the server's.
How do I use the readout to tell if I need to allocate more RAM?
Watch whether the used value sits close to the max value for long stretches, especially during heavy play. If it's consistently near the ceiling and you see stutter, increasing your allocated RAM in your launcher's JVM arguments may help.
The title bar shows memory but the game still stutters — is the mod wrong?
No — memory usage is only one possible cause of stutter. If your readout looks healthy but you still lag, the issue is likely elsewhere, such as CPU, GPU, chunk loading, or a specific mod.
