Medieval Paintings Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I place a medieval painting in my world?
Right-click on a wall block while holding a painting item, just like you would with vanilla Minecraft paintings. The painting will attach to the wall and display one of the medieval artworks at random.
Why do I still see the default Minecraft paintings?
You need to install the accompanying texture pack in addition to the mod. The mod adds new paintings, but the texture pack is required to replace the vanilla paintings with medieval versions.
Can I choose which painting appears when I place one?
No, paintings are assigned randomly when placed. If you don't like the one that appears, you can break it and place a new one until you get the design you want.
Do medieval paintings work with other mods that add paintings?
Compatibility depends on how the other mod is designed. If both mods try to replace vanilla paintings, you may see conflicts; using the texture pack can help manage which paintings display.
What size are the medieval paintings?
All medieval paintings use a 16×16 pixel resolution, matching Minecraft's default aesthetic so they blend seamlessly with your builds.
Can I use medieval paintings in multiplayer servers?
Yes, but all players on the server need to have both the mod and texture pack installed to see the medieval paintings correctly.
Do medieval paintings work in all building themes or just castles?
The mod includes over 50 different artworks suited to various medieval-fantasy settings including taverns, dungeons, keeps, and other historical builds, so you should find pieces for most themes.
Will medieval paintings cause lag or performance issues?
No, paintings are lightweight decorative blocks and the mod should have minimal performance impact on your game.
Can I rotate or resize medieval paintings after placing them?
Paintings cannot be rotated or resized once placed; they display at their default size and orientation. You can only break and replace them if you want a different position.
Do I need to craft medieval paintings or do they come in the creative inventory?
Medieval paintings are available directly in the creative inventory and can be obtained through normal survival means depending on your mod setup; no crafting recipe is required.
