Collecting Mechanical Eyes for Portal Activation

Obtaining Mechanical Eyes

To activate the End Portal, you need twelve Mechanical Eyes total. The resource pack changes their appearance, but they're obtained through the same methods as vanilla Eyes of Ender.

Gathering Methods

1. Craft them using the standard Eye of Ender recipe (Ender Pearl + Blaze Powder)

2. Hunt Endermen in the Overworld or Nether to collect Ender Pearls

3. Defeat Blazes in Nether Fortresses to obtain Blaze Powder

4. Throw eyes to find strongholds and retrieve them when they land

5. Collect extras as backup in case eyes are lost or destroyed

Preparation Tips

Gather more than twelve eyes before heading to the stronghold—extras provide insurance against accidents. Store them safely in your inventory or a chest. Consider farming Endermen and Blazes in advance to ensure you have sufficient materials. Each thrown eye has a chance to drop when it reaches its destination, so collecting during your stronghold search can supplement your supply. Having 15-20 eyes on hand gives you comfortable margin for error before attempting portal activation.
