Mclogs Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I share my server log with mclogs?
Run /mclogs in chat and the mod uploads your current server log to mclo.gs, then gives you a link you can paste anywhere. If you have OP, you can run it directly; otherwise you need the mclogs permission node.
What's the difference between /mclogs, /mclogs list, and /mclogs share?
/mclogs uploads the current server log right away, /mclogs list shows the logs, crash reports, and network protocol error reports available to share, and /mclogs share uploads a specific one you pick from that list.
How do I share an old log or a crash report instead of the current log?
Use /mclogs list to see what's available, then /mclogs share and select the crash report or older log you want. The mod uploads that file instead of the live server log.
Can I share a log without OP?
Yes, if whoever runs the server gives you the mclogs.share or mclogs permission node. Without it, the command is denied and you'll need to ask an operator to run it for you.
Where do I find the link after running /mclogs?
The link is printed in chat right after the upload finishes, so you can click it or copy it. If you missed it, run the command again or check the server console output.
Does mclogs hide my IP address and other sensitive info?
Yes, the mod automatically strips sensitive details like IP addresses before uploading. That's why it's safe to share the link publicly in Discord or on a forum.
Why does my shared log look empty or missing the error?
You probably shared the wrong file — the current log may not contain the crash. Run /mclogs list and share the crash report or network protocol error report that matches when the problem happened.
What are network protocol error reports and why would I share one?
They're logs the server writes when a client disconnects with a protocol mismatch or similar networking failure. Sharing one with /mclogs share helps whoever's debugging see the exact handshake or packet error.
Can I change where mclogs uploads to or how it looks?
Yes, the mod supports custom frontends through config.toml. Edit that file to point at a different mclo.gs-compatible endpoint if you don't want to use the default.
Does mclogs work on both client and server, and will it lag my game?
It works on both sides and is lightweight — uploads happen on demand when you run a command, not continuously. You shouldn't notice any performance impact during normal play.
