MapFrontiers Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the MapFrontiers region editor?
Open your JourneyMap full-screen map and look for the MapFrontiers button or region controls on the map interface. From there you can switch into region editing mode to draw, name, and color areas.
How do I create my first region?
Enter region editing mode from the JourneyMap screen, then click and drag on the map to draw a shape. When you release, a dialog appears where you can give the region a name and pick a color.
Why can't I see my regions on the map?
Make sure the region layer or overlay is toggled on in the MapFrontiers settings, since regions can be hidden independently of the base map. Also check that you're viewing the correct dimension, because regions are stored per-dimension.
Do regions get shared with other players on my server?
Regions are saved per-world, so on a multiplayer server they can be shared depending on how the world data is stored and synced. If you want everyone to see the same regions, the world save needs to be common to all players rather than each person keeping a local copy.
Can I rename or recolor a region after creating it?
Yes. Open the region in editing mode and use the edit options to change its name, color, or other properties without redrawing the shape.
How do I resize or reshape an existing region?
Select the region in editing mode and drag its corner or edge handles to adjust the shape. If the region was drawn as a polygon, you can move individual points instead.
How do I delete a region I no longer want?
Select the region in editing mode and choose the delete option from its context menu or the region panel. The region is removed from the map immediately, so there's no separate save step.
Can I make regions for different dimensions like the Nether or End?
Yes, regions are stored per-dimension, so you can create separate sets for the Overworld, Nether, End, or any modded dimension. Switch dimensions in JourneyMap to see and edit that dimension's regions.
My map is cluttered with too many regions — how do I manage them?
Use region groups or toggles to show only the regions you care about at a given time, and give regions clear names so you can find them in the list. You can also hide the region layer entirely when you just want to see terrain.
Does MapFrontiers hurt performance or conflict with other map mods?
MapFrontiers is an add-on for JourneyMap, so it needs JourneyMap installed and generally won't work with unrelated map mods. Performance impact is usually small, but very large numbers of complex regions can slow map rendering, so keep region shapes reasonably simple.
