Catch Your First Pokémon and Build a Starter Team
Finding Wild Pokémon
After choosing your starter, head into nearby grass patches, caves, or water areas. Wild Pokémon appear randomly in these environments. Approach slowly to avoid startling them, then enter battle.
Catching Pokémon
When you encounter a wild Pokémon, weaken it first by attacking with your starter's moves. Lower health increases catch rates. Once weakened, throw an empty Poké Ball at the Pokémon. You may need multiple attempts—this is normal.
Building Your Team
Catch at least 3-4 different Pokémon types before challenging your first gym. Variety matters: having different types gives you advantages against different opponents. Train your team by battling wild Pokémon and trainers on roads to gain experience and level up.
Leveling Strategy
Focus on catching Pokémon in areas near towns you plan to visit. This ensures your team is appropriately leveled for upcoming gym battles. Don't rush—take time to explore and strengthen each team member before moving forward.
