How do I start using magic in this mod?
Find your first magic scroll by fishing, trading with Wandering Traders, brushing in ruins, or looting chests in structures like Bastions and Shipwrecks. Right-click the scroll to learn the spell permanently, then craft or find a Grimoire to cast spells by holding it and left-clicking.
What's the difference between scrolls and a Grimoire?
Scrolls are one-time items you find in the world and right-click to learn individual spells. A Grimoire is a craftable book that stores all your learned spells in one place and lets you switch between them and cast magic.
My mana runs out too fast in combat. What do I do?
Drink mana potions you've crafted to instantly refill your mana bar, or wait about 5 seconds for it to start regenerating on its own. You can also upgrade your armor in a smithing table to increase your mana regeneration rate during fights.
How do I get better mana regeneration?
Use a smithing table to upgrade your magical armor with special materials—this makes your mana bar refill faster over time, helping you cast more spells before needing to wait or drink potions.
Where can I find the rarest scrolls?
Rare scrolls appear in End Cities, Bastions, Shipwrecks, and Buried Treasure chests. You can also get them by defeating boss mobs like the Wither, Evokers, Illusioners, and Mages, or by trading with Wandering Traders.
Can I reset my spells if I learn the wrong ones?
Yes, use the command `/execute as run function magicraft:player/spell/learn/reset/reset` to reset all known spells for a player, letting you start fresh with new scrolls.
How do I spawn a Mage mob to practice against?
Use the command `/function magicraft:mage/summon` to spawn a Mage into the world at your location—these are good targets for testing spells and earning scroll drops.
Do I need to hold the Grimoire to cast spells?
Yes, you must hold the Grimoire in your hand to cast spells. Right-click it to open your spell list and select which spell to use, then left-click to cast it.
What happens if my mana bar is completely empty?
You won't be able to cast spells until your mana regenerates or you drink a mana potion. Mana regenerates slowly on its own after about 5 seconds of not casting, so either wait or use a potion to get back into combat faster.
Can I get magic items without finding scrolls?
Yes, you can use the command `/loot give @a loot magicraft: ` to give specific magic items to players, which is useful for servers or if you want to skip the early hunting phase.
