How to Make Loft Stairs for a Compact Interior
Understand What Loft Stairs Are For
Loft Stairs in Macaw's Stairs are the steep, space-saving variant meant for tight interiors — attics, lofts, basements, and anywhere a full staircase would eat too much floor. They climb faster than a standard stair block, so they fit into a smaller footprint.
Place the Run
Start at the bottom landing and place your first Loft Stair facing the direction you want to climb. Each subsequent block stacks one higher and one block forward, so the run rises quickly. Because the rise is steep, plan the headroom: count how many blocks tall your ceiling is and make sure the top of the run clears it before you commit.
Connect to the Floor Above
At the top, place a Platform block or a normal floor block so the last Loft Stair meets a flat surface — otherwise you'll have a lip to trip over. If the top lands in a wall, cut a hole one block wide and two blocks tall so you can step through. Loft Stairs pair well with Railings along the open side of the run; place a Railing block on each step's outer edge to stop yourself from walking off mid-climb.
