How to Combine Platforms and Railings for Walkways
Plan the Walkway
Platform blocks in Macaw's Stairs are flat, thin building pieces — ideal for elevated walkways, bridges, docks, and catwalks. Railings are their natural partner: the Platform gives you the floor, the Railing gives you the edge. Pick one material set and stick to it so the walkway reads as a single structure.
Lay the Floor
Place Platform blocks end to end along the route you want the walkway to take. Platforms are thin, so they sit lower than a full block — this is what makes them look like a deck rather than a floor. If you need the walkway to turn, place a Platform at the corner and continue in the new direction.
Add Railings and Supports
Run Railing blocks along both long edges of the walkway, one per Platform block. At corners, rotate the Railing to face the new direction so the barrier is continuous. Underneath, place full blocks or fences as supports every few blocks so the walkway doesn't look like it's floating. If the walkway crosses water, drop supports down to the waterline. For a covered version, add a roof of your base material one block above head height and leave the Railings in place.
