Use Colored Lighting to Enhance Your Build

How Colored Lighting Works

Lyrae Shaders casts light with the actual color of its source. A redstone lamp emits red light, torches cast warm orange, and glowstone produces yellow. This colored light bounces onto nearby blocks, creating atmospheric lighting that standard Minecraft cannot achieve.

Designing with Color

1. Plan light placement – Position colored light sources near surfaces you want to tint. Red lamps near stone walls will cast a reddish glow

2. Layer light sources – Combine warm torches with cool-toned glowstone to create depth and visual interest

3. Use caves effectively – Dark caves now show colored light from lamps and crystals, making underground bases feel alive

4. Test in different times – Colored lighting interacts with sunlight during day and moonlight at night; revisit builds at different times to see the full effect

Practical Examples

Place redstone lamps in alcoves to create moody red corridors. Use soul lanterns for blue-tinted areas. Combine multiple colors in large spaces to avoid monotone lighting. The colored light will naturally blend and bounce, creating realistic color mixing on surfaces.
