Optimize Performance for Smoother Gameplay
Understanding the Performance Cost
Lyrae Shaders performs complex light-bouncing calculations every frame. Path tracing is computationally expensive, so even strong graphics cards will see performance drops compared to simpler shaders.
Key Optimization Steps
1. Reduce render distance – Lower your chunk render distance from 16 to 8-12 chunks. This cuts the area the shader must calculate lighting for
2. Lower resolution – Run Minecraft at 1080p instead of 1440p or 4K if your card struggles
3. Disable advanced features – Check shader settings for toggles like ray-traced reflections or ambient occlusion; disable less critical ones
4. Close background apps – Shut down web browsers, Discord, and other programs using GPU resources
5. Update drivers – Ensure your graphics card drivers are current
Finding Your Balance
Aim for 30-60 FPS depending on your preference. If you're below 30 FPS, reduce render distance further or lower resolution. Monitor your GPU temperature—if it exceeds safe limits, dial back settings to prevent thermal throttling or hardware damage.
